Toyota Takes Covers Off Sixth Generation RAV4
Toyota has revealed the sixth generation of the hugely popular RAV4 ahead of the car going on sale next year.
First launched back in 1994, the RAV4 has been one of the best sellers in the Toyota range with more than 15 million sold around the world.
Although the new RAV4 will be offered as both a PHEV and a full hybrid, it is expected that the plug-in variant will be the only available in the UK in line with the current model.
That will provide a solid 62 miles of all-electric range, with the ability to recharge the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in under half an hour using fast charging.
Standard charging will provide the same amount of charge in around three hours at home.
Although the exact specifications that will come to the UK are still to be officially confirmed, Toyota has stated that a front-wheel drive plug-in hybrid will be available for the first time in the RAV4 range with 264bhp.

A more powerful all-wheel drive version will provide drivers with 300bhp – making it the most powerful car in its class.
A GR Sport version of the car is also set to be offered with a ‘more dynamic driving experience and a motorsports-inspired character’.
The RAV4 will be the first model offered with Toyota’s new Arene operating system, which will allow for the introduction of a range of new safety systems and will allow for updates to be carried out over the air.
Arene will also allow for a revised entertainment system to debut which will be accessed via a new 12.9 inch touch screen designed to be user friendly and offer access to a wide range of key features.
