The fully electric model was praised by judges for its all-round excellence.

Earlier this month, the annual News UK Motor Awards were held which honour the best new vehicles of the year. Volvo  were among the winners of the prestigious awards with the EX40 crowned Mid-Sized SUV of the Year.

The fully electric SUV was praised by the judging panel for delivering everything from range to comfort and performance. Judges include a range of automotive industry experts from The Sun, The Sunday Times, Driving.co.uk, and Luxx magazine.

Will Dron, Editor of Driving.co.uk at the Sunday Times, said: "The Volvo EX40 is one of those elegant, understated cars that brings huge satisfaction to an owner because it over-delivers in every regard. Range, comfort, performance, build quality, technology, handling - it quietly excels in all these areas. While its smaller [EX30] sibling has been stealing a lot of attention this year, the EX40 is the car that stood out for us in the mid-sized SUV segment."
