If your new car wish list contains words like ‘premium, comfortable, safe and practical’, then you’re describing the Volvo range to a tee.

The Swedish manufacturer has been at the forefront of sophisticated style for decades and has never been afraid to think outside the box… which is ironic, for the big, boxy estates it pioneered in the 80s and 90s have gone on to attain iconic status.

While the demand for estates has morphed into SUVs, Volvo has remained ahead of the game with models as the XC90 and XC60, not to mention the Volvo XC40, which consistently ranks among the UK’s top ten best-selling cars.

Suave, state-of-the-art and stylish, the 2026 Volvo range at Vertu has it all…

Why Choose a New Volvo?

  • Scandi-cool Image – Volvo channels its Swedish origins with a design language that is the very epitome of what the Scandinavian nation represents
  • Safety Pioneers – As the manufacturer behind numerous world-first innovations, Volvo has an unparalleled historical reputation for safety
  • Leading the Electric Charge – Volvo’s growing array of electric EX/EC/ES models now cover everything from cool compact SUVs (EX30) to lavish saloons (ES90)
  • Big on Space – While its current range focuses primarily on SUVs, the spirit of Volvo’s iconic estates over the decades remains well in evidence today
  • Eco-conscious Credentials – From rolling out multiple new electric models to leading the way on using recycled materials in its designs, Volvo is committed to a greener future

Popular Volvo Models in the UK

1 - EX30.jpg

Volvo EX30

One of the smallest cars Volvo has ever produced, the all-electric Volvo EX30 is also one of the most important.

Pitched as a premium hatchback-cum-SUV rival to the likes of the Smart #1 and CUPRA Born, the EX30 distils all of Volvo’s ‘scandi-cool’ image into a compact, yet practical package.

The clean, understated lines give the EX30 an air of sophistication, while the premium feeling continues inside where the minimalist cabin is not only stylish, its also constructed with predominantly recycled materials.

Offered with the choice of 51kWh and 69kWh batteries, opt for the Extended Range model and the EX30 – despite its relatively small size – will still return almost 300-miles of range.

2 - XC40.jpg

Volvo XC40

It’s testament to how well Volvo got the design of the XC40 right first time around that it has barely changed since it was launched back in 2017.

And yet, ten years down the line and with countless rivals arriving to steal its thunder, the Volvo XC40 remains one of the UK’s most popular cars, SUV or otherwise.

It’s not hard to see why, the XC40 offering a lot of kerb appeal, but following through with an interior that is stylish, modern and sumptuously comfortable.

After the electric version was spun-off into the EX40, the XC40 is offered only as a mild-hybrid, but it proves powerful enough – either 161bhp or 194bhp – and returns over 40mpg too.

Volvo EX40

What was once known as the Volvo XC40 Recharge is now the Volvo EX40, to bring its nomenclature into line with other electric models in the range.

Combining the classy appeal of the XC40 with a frugal electric powertrain, the EX40 proves an attractive prospect in a congested EV SUV market space.

There are four power outputs and three battery options available on the EX40 – 69kWh, 78kWh and 82kWh – with the latter offered with four-wheel drive.

In Twin Motor guise, the EX40 is devilishly quick by completing the 0-62mph dash in less than five seconds, while still returning upwards of 300-345-miles of range.

4 - EC40.jpg

Volvo EC40

Another model that has undergone a name change in recent years, the Volvo C40 is now the Volvo EC40 to reflect its electric powertrain.

Very similar in specification and interior design to the EX40, the EC40 satisfies the demand for those who prefer the aesthetic appeal of a coupe-style SUV with its rakish roofline and liftback rear-end.

Once again there are 69kWh, 78kWh and 82kWh battery options, with the latter available with a twin motor for 436bhp.

Range is competitive across the line-up, however, with between 300 and 345-miles possible between charges.

5 - V60.jpg

Volvo V60

While there is no escaping Volvo’s recent shift towards SUVs and electric power, some stalwarts of the Swedish marque’s range persist, including the Volvo V60.

Now available only in estate form, the V60 continues the long tradition of spacious and practical Volvo load-luggers with its capacious 529-litre boot, which can swell to 1,441-litres once the seats are folded.

A car that takes a more comfort-oriented approach to driving, the V60 luxuriates with its sumptuous interior, while the choice of mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains offers both performance and frugality.

6 - XC60.jpg

Volvo XC60

The best-selling car Volvo has ever produced on a global scale, the Volvo XC60 has achieved this milestone on the back of being stylish, unassuming and excellent quality.

Indeed, XC60 sees Volvo in its element for applying its reputation for attractive, high-quality and comfortable cars, with the premium SUV available with either a conventional four-cylinder turbocharged engine or with a plug-in hybrid set-up.

If the XC40 is too small but the XC90 is just a bit too big, the XC60 combines the strengths of both models into one accomplished SUV package.

7 - EX60.jpg

Volvo EX60

The newest model in the Swedish marque’s range, the Volvo EX60 might be the most significant car it has ever designed.

Ultimately, the EX60 represents the new generation of the hugely popular XC60 but remixes it into a premium electric SUV package. With such accomplished rivals as the BMW iX3 waiting in the wings, the Volvo can’t simply play it safe with its effort.

The result is a car that blends the timeless style Volvo is so good at with a state-of-the-art powertrain it describes as ‘software-defined’. In laymen terms, the EX60 has been designed from the ground-up to integrate electric power more seamlessly, which has resulted in some headline-grabbing range figures of up to 500-miles.

The EX60 also debuts a new interior design direction, while it is brimming with technology that Volvo believes will make it one of the safest cars ever brought to market.

Volvo V90

A throwback to a time when Volvo was best-known for its enormous estates, while the Volvo V90 trades some space for style compared to its hard-angled predecessors, it’s still a hugely practical option.

In a world of SUVs, the V90 estate is something of a rarity these days and while it is certainly nostalgic in its profiling, it’s still an attractive large vehicle.

The V90 is now available with two plug-in hybrid choices, both of which provide impressive performance for the vehicle’s size, while the 551-litre boot will be big enough for most.

9 - ES90.jpg

Volvo ES90

The Volvo ES90 remixes the XC90 SUV into a sleek executive electric saloon with luxurious and stylish results.

An engaging alternative to default German choices, the Volvo ES90 cuts a dash on the outside with a clean, minimalist design that looks effortlessly scandi-cool.

It follows through on the inside too, the ES90 keeping dashboard clutter to a minimum by devoting the majority of the controls to the large central touchscreen. It helps to create a calm, comfortable ambience from behind the wheel.

Two battery sizes are available – 92kWh and 106kWh – with each capable of returning more than 400-miles of range.

10 - XC90.jpg

Volvo XC90

Evolution, rather than revolution, has been the key to maintaining the Volvo XC90’s appeal over the past couple of decades.

While its status as the flagship in Volvo’s range has been superseded by the similarly sized all-electric EX90, the XC90 holds its own as a conventionally fuelled or PHEV alternative.

Solid, practical and safe, while the XC90 is understated, it remains a quietly impressive large SUV versus the likes of the BMW X5 and Audi Q7.

.

.

11 - EX90.jpg

Volvo EX90

The Volvo EX90 successfully takes all of the redeeming features of the XC90 and transforms it into a penny-pinching car to run with its electric powertrain.

Stylish, exquisitely built and brimming with technology, the EX90 is offered in Single Motor, Twin Motor and Twin Motor Performance guise, with the latter’s 106kWh battery producing a whopping 680bhp.

Despite this, the EX90 will go the distance with each model in the line-up capable of returning over 350-miles of range.
