Kia Sportage Interior

The Kia Sportage interior puts two 12.3-inch curved displays front and centre, angled towards the driver so the instruments and touchscreen read as one continuous surface. Hidden air vents run the width of the dashboard, and a new two-spoke steering wheel keeps the layout clean. For anyone stepping out of an older SUV with a cluttered centre stack, that uncluttered span is the first thing you notice.

That restraint carries into the materials. GT-Line and GT-Line S add a black-and-white Bio PU leather and suede finish, aluminium trim with a technical pattern, and a black headlining. Heated front seats arrive from GT-Line, with ventilated front seats and heated outer rear seats on Storm and GT-Line S.

GT-Line S goes furthest for comfort, with an electric driver's seat with memory, a panoramic sunroof with electric blind, and a customisable head-up display. Underneath sits genuine practicality: 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats, and a boot of 591 litres in petrol models, 587 litres in the hybrid and 540 litres in the plug-in hybrid.

Technology keeps pace across the cabin. A 15W wireless charging pad, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and USB-C ports front and rear keep every device topped up. Storm and GT-Line S add an eight-speaker Harman Kardon system in place of the standard six speakers.

Kia Sportage Exterior

Outside, the Kia Sportage leads with Kia's Star Map LED signature, a light pattern that runs through both the daytime running lights and the rear combination lamps. A redesigned grille and lower bumper give it a wider, more planted stance, while the rear wiper hides neatly within the roof spoiler.

That sportier stance sharpens on the GT-Line grades. GT-Line and GT-Line S wear the GT-Line exterior styling, with gloss-black detailing, a gloss black radiator grille and a black beltline under the windows. Wheels step from 17-inch alloys on Pure to 18-inch or 19-inch GT-Line designs, the 19-inch rims reserved for the hybrid.

Colour is where you set the tone. Fusion White comes as standard, with premium options including Magma Red, Wolf Grey, Experience Green, Blue Flame, Phantom Black and Dark Penta Metal. Of these, Magma Red arguably makes the boldest case on the GT-Line trims, and GT-Line S can pair a Lunar Silver body with a contrasting black roof.

Every Kia Sportage measures 4,540mm long, 1,865mm wide excluding mirrors and 1,645mm tall, on a 2,680mm wheelbase. That footprint sits squarely in the family SUV class, and the long wheelbase frees up the rear legroom passengers actually feel.

Kia Sportage Trims and Specifications

The Kia Sportage range runs four trims, and equipment steps up clearly through the grades. Pure covers the essentials, GT-Line adds sportier styling and heated seats, Storm brings premium paint and a larger driver display as standard, and GT-Line S tops the range.

Of the four, GT-Line S makes the clearest case when equipment matters most. It's the only grade with the panoramic sunroof, head-up display, 360-degree Surround View Monitor and Digital Key 2.0. That last feature lets you unlock and start the car with your phone, and share access with up to seven drivers.

Kia Sportage Engines and Performance

The Kia Sportage pairs one 1.6 T-GDi engine with three levels of electrification, so performance climbs as you move from petrol to hybrid to plug-in hybrid. The petrol produces 147bhp, the self-charging hybrid 235bhp, and the plug-in hybrid 283bhp.

The plug-in hybrid is the one to focus on if your driving splits between short local runs and longer trips. Its 283bhp reaches 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds, yet up to 44 miles of electric-only range means many of your commutes pass with zero tailpipe emissions whilst driving. Charge it at up to 7.2kW from a home wallbox and it refills in around one hour 44 minutes.

The self-charging hybrid needs no cable at all, topping up its 1.49kWh battery as you drive and returning up to 50.4mpg combined. All-wheel drive is available on the hybrid and plug-in hybrid, and GT-Line S adds Terrain Mode for mud, snow and sand.
