The Nissan Leaf provides a great ride as well as looking after the environment, which is why the brand has won the award for greenest manufacturer of the year from Green-Car-Guide.com.
Founder and editor of the online news provider Paul Clarke said the all-electric car went further than lowering carbon emissions to offer a great traveling experience as well.
"Not only has the company brought the vehicle to market, the Leaf is also an excellent car to drive," he said.
Mr Clarke added that Nissan has displayed "real leadership" in the creation of the vehicle, which is the first all-electric family hatchback in the entire world.
The judge went on to say that the car was a good option for London-based drivers, where air quality is poor, but there are plenty of reasons to grab a Leaf in rural areas too.
In fact, the Cheshire village of Ashton Hayes has bought a Leaf vehicle that can be used by anyone in the area over the age of 18, which is aiming to become the first carbon-neutral community in the UK.
Energy-efficient cars are really catching on across Europe, which has already resulted in a significant reduction in carbon emissions.
The amount of CO2 produced by the continent dropped by an average of 3.7 per cent in 2010, according to recent figures from the European Union.
