Burnley missed out on a vital three points in the battle to avoid the drop in the Premier League after conceding a controversial last minute goal in a huge game against Luton Town.

The Clarets went into the game knowing that a win would move them closer to their rivals in the table, and within two points of Everton who currently occupy 17th place.

With difficult games to come against Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal, Burnley battled hard to find a way through the Luton defence, with Jhann Gudmundsson forcing an early save out of visiting ‘keeper Thomas Kaminski.

James Trafford was then called into action to deny Ross Barkley as Luton chased the opening goal, with Chiedozie Ogbene also forcing Trafford into a save with a fierce near post effort.

Burnley however hit the front when Lyle Foster broke forwards into the Luton half before playing the ball out wide to Wilson Odobert, who crossed for Zeki Amdouni to fire home side into the lead ten minutes before the break.

Odobert went close to a second with a deflected effort in the second half and a vital three points looked to be in the bag until two minutes into stoppage time when Alfie Doughty sent a high ball into the box from the left wing.

Trafford came out to claim the ball but was nudged by Luton forward Elijah Adebayo, which allowed Carlton Morris to head into the net.

Despite the contact on the goalkeeper, the Video Assistant Referee deemed that the goal could stand in a move that angered both the home fans and Burnley boss Vincent Kompany, resulting in a single point for the Vertu Motors-backed side rather than all three.
