The Renault 5 E-Tech has added to its ever-growing list of recognition after being named as the overall winner at the Business Car of the Year awards.

As well as taking the top award, the compact EV also took the award for ‘Best Small Car’ to add another trophy to the already impressive list it has secured this year.

Relaunching a famous name from the 1980s the Renault 5 has already taken Car of the Year awards from the likes of What Car? and Top Gear and claimed the European Car of the Year a3ward back in January.

Both business and private buyers are currently able to benefit from savings of £1,500 against a new Renault 5 E-Tech as a result of the Electric Car Grant that was introduced by the government.

The model is one of four in the Renault range – alongside the Renault 4, the Megane and the Scenic – to have been given Band 2 status under the ECG.

“The Renault 5 E-Tech electric proves you don’t have to compromise when choosing an EV,” Renault UK head of fleet Justin Costello said.

“Business Car’s recognition of both its fleet credentials and its overall appeal shows we’ve firmly hit the mark – an electric car that appeals to both fleet managers and drivers alike. Going from ‘One to Watch’ to double winner in a year speaks to how the market has responded.”
