What should I look for in a family car?
This is down to personal preference and your family circumstances but some things to consider are things like safety features, number of doors, boot size, whether or not the car has ISOFIX etc. The important thing is finding a car that suits you and your squad!
How can I find out how safe a car is?
The Euro NCAP Safety Rating is a standardised series of tests, carried out by an independent organisation. Their website has a full list of makes and models of all ages, and is a really good place to really dig into each one and the safety features available.
How can I be sure my car seats will fit?
If you have babies or small children, you may need to fit car seats. Take your existing seat(s) when you go to see the car or take measurements if you havent bought the car seat yet.
Can you fit a pram in the boot?
We all know that babies and toddlers come with their own set of wheels and its important to make sure that they can fit in your set of wheels! Enquire about boot dimensions and dont be afraid to try it out! Look out for the loading lip around the entrance to the boot too a high loading lip can make packing and unpacking the boot tricky!
What are the running costs like?
Family life can be expensive, whatever your set-up, so its important to check that your new car isnt going to negatively affect your finances! There is nothing wrong with doing a budget plan and working out running costs to help you make a more informed decision. Every car on the Vertu website has affordability gauges for things like insurance bands, mpg and road tax - to help you work out the running costs and see if theyre within your budget.
