Argyle Play Out Huddersfield Draw

Plymouth Argyle were held to a draw as the Vertu Motors-backed side kicked off life in the EFL Championship under new boss Ian Foster.

Foster had seen his side progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup in his first game in charge, with his first league match coming with a trip to Huddersfield Town.

Having lost the services of midfielders Finn Azaz and Luke Cundle after they were recalled by their parent clubs, Argyle gave debuts to another loan duo in the shape of Ashley Phillips and Darko Gyabi but it was a familiar face who put the Pilgrims ahead in Yorkshire.

When Argyle managed to break down the left – having already seen Huddersfield miss chances to go ahead – Bali Mumba was able to deliver a perfect cross for Morgan Whittaker to make it seven goals in as many games.

Alex Matos came close to an equaliser before he was then involved in a contentious challenge with Gyabi in the Plymouth half – which to calls for a foul from the away side.

The referee allowed play to continue and when the call came to Josh Koroma, he was able to curl the ball home to make it 1-1.

Both sides had chances to win the game, with a point leaving Plymouth in 19th in the table ahead of the next game at home to Cardiff City.
