Exeter Chiefs made it three wins from three in the Investec Champions Cup, with a late victory against Glasgow putting the Vertu Motors-backed side into the knock-out stages.

Exeter had been keen to bounce back from defeat against Northampton a week earlier, which marked the first home loss for the Chiefs in more than a year.

Glasgow hit the front shortly after Greg Fisilau was yellow-carded, with George Horne kicking the penalty to put the Scottish side ahead, and they extended their lead out to 10-0 when Kyle Rowe took advantage of an error at the back from the home side to cross the line just before the half-hour mark.

Jacques Vermeulen got Exeter back into the game when he went over the line just before half-time but Glasgow went further clear shortly after the break when captain Sione Tuipulotu’s converted try put the Warriors ten points clear.

Exeter fought back however to score through Dan Frost, with Zack Wimbush then adding a third try just three minutes from the end.

Henry Slade kicked the extras to put the Chiefs 19-17 ahead but there was still time for another twist when Euan Ferrie thought he had won the game for Glasgow only for his injury time try to be disallowed.

It means Exeter have now made it through to the next stage of the competition with a game to spare against Bayonne this weekend.
