Hyundai IONIQ 3 Primed to Set New Standards in Small Family Class

The striking new Hyundai IONIQ 3 is all set to reach Vertu Hyundai dealerships later this year promising new standards for electric efficiency, cutting-edge technology and practicality in the small family car class.

One of the most significant launches of 2026, the IONIQ 3 represents a bold new take on the conventional hatchback-cum-SUV formula, so much so that Hyundai refers to its family-oriented model as an ‘Aero Hatch’.

In-keeping with Hyundai’s eye-catchingly popular electric car range, the IONIQ 3 is another aesthetically dramatic statement, from the pixelated headlights at the front, to the unusually tapered window line, to the coupe-like sloping roofline.

Hyundai IONIQ 3: Electric Range and Recharging

The latter is more than just a design flourish. Indeed, it’s also dictated by aerodynamic considerations, which contributes to the IONIQ 3’s impressive electric efficiency.

Two battery options are available from launch – 41kWh Standard Range and 58kWh Long Range, which are good for 213-miles and 308-miles of WLTP combined range, respectively.

It makes the IONIQ 3 the most durable small family hatchback within its estimated price point versus rivals, while fast charging can be completed in less than 30-minutes.

Hyundai IONIQ 3: Interior and Technology

The cohesive ‘Art of Steel’ design is reflected inside, where the IONIQ 3 belies its great value positioning by offering a new standard of interior quality and smart connected technology.

Putting an emphasis on a design that is ‘convenient and clearly structured’, the IONIQ 3 is also the first European-bound Hyundai to get the firm’s state-of-the-art PLEOS Connect infotainment system.

Based on Android Automotive OS, Hyundai’s adaptation creates a smartphone-like user interface and extendable features through integrated apps that are designed to deliver a more intuitive and seamless in-vehicle experience.

Music streaming, entertainment and productivity apps will be pre-loaded into the IONIQ 3 from launch with plans to introduce dozens more by the end of the year.

Another key feature is Gleo A1, Hyundai’s personalised AI voice assistant that is designed to support more natural voices, adding to the level of vehicle-human interactions.

Hyundai IONIQ 3: Practicality and Boot Space

It might aid aero efficiency, but the Hyundai IONIQ 3’s unconventional body shape also has a positive impact on available practicality inside too.

There is plenty of head and legroom for passengers in the rear, even for six-foot adults, while the IONIQ 3 has a useful double boot that comprises a 322-litre main load area, plus a 119-litre compartment underneath the boot floor to use when necessary.

This all adds up to total boot space of 441-litres, which is substantially larger than most rivals in this price bracket and sector.

The IONIQ 3 should also be a good buying prospect over a long-term thanks to Hyundai’s five-year/unlimited mileage warranty, while other Hyundai models in the range have proven to be reliable.
