The Kia PV5 is purpose-built as an electric vehicle, not a converted combustion model. That matters when buying used, because there's no complex mechanical drivetrain to worry about - fewer moving parts means fewer things that can go wrong over time, granting you peace of mind.
Battery health is the most important check on any used electric vehicle. Kia's 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty covers the high-voltage battery and guarantees a minimum 70% of original capacity throughout the warranty period. For a relatively new model, most used examples will be well within this window and should show minimal degradation.
Check the service history for evidence of the Kia e-Care service plan, which covers annual tyre rotation, brake cleaning, and battery state of health reports. A well-maintained Kia electric van with a complete service record is a significantly lower risk than one without.
Also verify the grade - whether the van is Kia PV5 Essential or Plus. Plus-grade models include several features that cannot be retrofitted, including heated front and rear seats, blind-spot collision avoidance, vehicle-to-load capability, and electric folding mirrors. These are worth confirming before purchase if they matter to your operation.
Finally, if you're buying a Kia PV5 Cargo, confirm the door configuration. The standard model comes with a single nearside sliding door; dual sliding doors are a factory option, and not all examples will have them fitted.

As a used buyer, you stand to benefit from one of the strongest warranty offers in the market. The renowned Kia 7-year warranty is fully transferable to subsequent owners. Buy a used PV5 that was first registered in 2025 and you could potentially still have several years of manufacturer warranty remaining - a true rarity in the used van market.
Running costs are another advantage. The Kia electric powertrain carries a 24-month/20,000-mile service interval on the Cargo and Passenger, longer than most combustion vans. Over-the-Air updates keep the software current without a workshop visit. And with DC fast charging at up to 150kW delivering a 10-80% charge in under 30 minutes, charging downtime is kept to a minimum.
The only caveat worth noting is that city range figures for the Cargo and Chassis Cab are still pending official confirmation. The combined WLTP figures - 184 miles on the Cargo SR, 258 miles on the Cargo LR, and 256 miles on the Passenger LR - are confirmed and well-suited to most commercial routes.
