Hyundai's newest electric hatchback brings class-leading range, a spacious cabin, and smarter technology to everyday drivers.
Hyundai has officially introduced the IONIQ 3, a fully electric compact hatchback engineered for daily life. Sitting alongside the IONIQ 5, 6, and 9 in Hyundai's growing electric lineup, the IONIQ 3 is designed to bring premium EV features to a broader audience - without compromising space and range.
A New Shape for a New Segment
The IONIQ 3 introduces what Hyundai calls an "Aero Hatch" body, a silhouette optimised to do two things at once: cut through the air efficiently and maximise interior room for occupants.
Its sleek frontend merges into the distinctive roofline, sloping down into a rear spoiler that further solidifies its sport credentials.
Buyers can choose from eight exterior colours at launch, including Atlas White Solid, Phantom Black Pearl, Vibrant Blue Pearl, and Fierce Red Matte, with wheel options ranging from 16 to 19 inches.
IONIQ 3 Range
Two battery options are available, depending on your driving habits:
Variant | Battery | WLTP Range |
Standard Range | 42.2 kWh | 213 miles |
Long Range | 61 kWh | 308 miles |
The Long Range model's projected mileage on a single charge is a significant figure for the compact segment, it’s enough for most drivers to go a full week of commuting and errands without plugging in.
Note: Figures are projected WLTP estimates and are subject to change.
IONIQ 3 Fast Charging
The IONIQ 3 is built on Hyundai's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with a 400-volt architecture. For the everyday driver, that means:
DC fast charging from 10–80% in approximately 29 minutes (Standard Range) or 30 minutes (Long Range)
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, both inside and outside the vehicle - useful for camping, worksites, or powering devices on the go
Plug & Charge support, so you can connect and charge without fumbling with apps at compatible public chargers
Bigger Than the Outside Suggests
This is where the IONIQ 3 arguably makes its strongest case. Despite compact exterior dimensions (4,155 mm long for the base model), Hyundai has made some proper room inside.
The rear seat comfortably accommodates three adults, which is a meaningful distinction for young families or those regularly travelling with a full car.
Storage is equally impressive:
441 litres total boot capacity (322 L main boot + 119 L integrated Megabox beneath the floor)
Clever concealed storage under the floor via the Megabox
Depending on specification, the IONIQ 3 can be equipped with Relaxation Seats, heated and ventilated seating, dual-zone automatic climate control, a BOSE® Premium Sound System, and ambient LED lighting.
Simple Technology by Design
Hyundai’s philosophy is that technology should make life easier, rather than more complex. Few standout features include:
Hyundai Digital Key 2 — unlock and start the car via smartphone or a compatible wearable device
Integrated EV route planner with real-time charging stop suggestions
Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) — manoeuvre the car into tight spaces from outside the vehicle
Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2) — hands-on lane centring and adaptive cruise on motorways
Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM) and Surround View Monitor (SVM)
Memory Reverse Assist (MRA) — the car memorises and repeats a reverse manoeuvre you've performed before
Projection LED headlamps with Intelligent Front-Lighting System (IFS)
Explore and test drive the IONIQ 3 at your local Vertu Hyundai later in the year.
