Kia PV7 Passenger Offers 7 or 9 Seats with 285-Miles of Range

Kia has pulled the wraps off the all-new Kia PV7 Passenger, its second, larger multi-purpose vehicle that will slot in above the Kia PV5 Passenger in its burgeoning PBV line-up.

Marking a year since the Kia PV5 Passenger received its world debut, the PV7 Passenger is developed from the same scalable e-GMP.S platform to offer larger dimensions and more seating.

Available in the UK with either seven or nine seats, the PV7 Passenger sees Kia make a move into the crew transport, mobility, shuttle and rental service space, where it will take on the likes of the Ford Tourneo Custom, Renault Trafic Passenger and the Volkswagen ID.Buzz.

Like the competition, the PV7 Passenger is derived from a van – the Cargo, also launched at the same event in Hanover – and like its commercial relative, it cuts a dash with a quirky, eye-catching design that has evolved from the smaller PV5.

With its chunky bumpers and boxy proportions, the PV7 Passenger leans into its space accentuating brief, while stylised LED headlights and gloss black on the short overhang nose completes the futuristic look.

At 5,350mm in length (compared to the PV5’s 4.7m) it’s inside where the PV7 Passenger comes into its own with room for up to nine seats.

With dimensions that place it between standard and long wheelbase rivals, the PV7 Passenger offers myriad seating configurations and adjustments, as well as plentiful inventive storage solutions dotted about that cabin.

Up in the front seat, a 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch central touchscreen dominates the upright, space-saving dashboard, while the equipment list will include luxury touches like a glass roof and ambient lighting.

Under the skin will be the option of two batteries, starting with the standard range 71.5kWh unit as found in the smaller PV5, plus a flagship 96.2kWh battery labelled ‘long range’.

The latter, according to Kia, is quoted with a range of 285-miles on a single charge, which comfortably out-lasts its Ford E-Tourneo Custom, and isn’t far off the durable but smaller Volkswagen ID.Buzz.

Better yet, by being capable of accommodating a 350kW DC fast charge, the PV7 Passenger will top up from 10-80% in around 25-minutes.

The arrival of the PV7 Passenger comes on the back of widespread critical acclaim and strong sales for its inaugural Kia PBV (Platford Beyond Vehicle) model, the PV5 Passenger.
