The all-new Mazda CX-6e has been revealed in UK specification for the first time with the mid-size SUV representing the next chapter in the Japanese manufacturer’s electric journey.

Coming hot on the heels of the new Mazda 6e, the CX-6e bolsters the firm’s electric offerings in the UK with an interpretation of the sleek, rakish lines that have become synonymous with the brand.

Indeed, the CX-6e certainly has good looks on its side as it limbers up for competition against the likes of the Skoda Enyaq Coupe and Ford Explorer, its low, sharp nose flanked by slimline headlights that stretch to form an outline of the grille.

With a low-slung profile and tapered roofline, the CX-6e deftly combines the athletic posture of an SUV with the smoothness of a coupe.

Inside, the CX-6e adopts an entirely new philosophy for Mazda in terms of layout and design with the dashboard now dominated by an enormous 26-inch 5K display that stretches from the centre console right to the edge of the passenger side.

Operated by voice, touch or gestures, the dashboard format is intended to give drivers more intuitive effortless control in lieu of fiddly physical buttons.

Standout features also include a 23-speaker sound system – including some fitted into the headrest that can be configured so that the driver and passenger can listen to different music.

Under the skin the CX-6e offers up to 300-miles of range (WLTP) from its 78kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, while recharging 10-80% can be completed in little more than 24-minutes.

Two trim levels will be offered from launch – Takumi and Takumi Plus – with prices beginning at £42,990 for the former.

All models get an impressive specification list, including heated/ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, 256-colour ambient lighting and keyless entry.

Flagship Takumi Plus adds 21-inch alloy wheels, a unique interior colour and trim package, digital mirrors – which are shaped by external mirrors but located as part of the dashboard – and heated/ventilated seats.

The Mazda CX-6e arrives in Vertu Mazda dealerships later this year.
