The entry price for the Vauxhall Grandland family SUV has been reduced by more than £5,000 following the introduction of a new base trim level.

The Vauxhall Grandland Griffin comes with a price tag of £31,495* for the hybrid version, rising to £34,495* for the electric model.

The Griffin trim comes in place of the outgoing Design grade, but despite the significant reduction in price, it comes generously equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels (20-inch on the EV), a two-tone paint scheme, heated steering wheel and heated front seats.

It also gets a wealth of tech-assisted kit, including Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, ‘Intelli-LED headlights’, front/rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.

Hybrid versions of the Grandland Griffin comprise a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine mated to a 28bhp electric motor for a total power output of 143bhp. Vauxhall says it means the Grandland can be driven primarily on electric power at lower speeds, helping fuel economy to exceed 50mpg.

The Grandland Electric uses a 73kWh battery generating 210bhp and returning up to 322-miles of range (on a WLTP cycle).
