The new Volkswagen Jetta is now available ahead of first deliveries in December.

The new model made its debut at the New York Auto Show in April and features revised styling front and rear, enhanced features, trims and greater efficiency.

The Jetta's styling has been updated to make it sleeker than ever before, with an overall improvement in aerodynamics. At the front, there's an improved radiator grille with three horizontal fins, and a reprofiled bumper beneath.

At the rear, the boot lid has been redesigned to incorporate an aerodynamically efficient lip, which extends into the wings at the side.

Inside, the Jetta comes with revised instruments, a new design of steering wheel, a variety of new trims around the centre console and new fabric designs.

The Jetta has new safety features including Blind Spot Detection with Rear Traffic Alert. New models will also feature BlueMotion Technology modifications, including stop/start and battery energy recuperation.

The engines on offer are a 1.4-litre TSI 123bhp unit with a six-speed manual gearbox; a 1.4-litre TSI 148bhp; a 2.0-litre TDI with 108bhp and a 2.0-litre TDI with 148bhp.

Three trim levels are available: S, SE and GT. Standard equipment includes DAB digital radio, ESC electronic stability control, electric windows and air conditioning.

SE trim adds to the list with 16-inch 'Atlanta' alloy wheels, lumbar support, Bluetooth telephone connectivity, a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, MDI multi-device interface and cruise control.

Top-of-the-range GT trim comes with 15mm lower sports suspension, 17-inch 'Lancaster' alloy wheels, front fog lights, front sports seats, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, heat-insulating tinted rear glass, a colour multifunction trip computer, driver alert system and ambient interior lighting.
