Renault Group UK has partnered with Andersen EV to make charging at home simple, convenient and cost-effective.
When you purchase a new electric vehicle from Renault, Alpine or Dacia - including the Renault 5 E-Tech electric, Renault 4 E-Tech electric, Renault Scenic E-Tech, Renault Megane E-Tech, Renault Twingo, Alpine A290 or Dacia Spring - you’re eligible for an exclusive £999 home charging package.
There are three main ways to charge an electric vehicle: from a standard 3-pin socket, from a dedicated home charge point, or using public charging networks.
It is possible to charge your EV from a standard domestic 3-pin socket using a portable charging cable. However, this is best regarded as an emergency or occasional charging option, rather than a replacement for a dedicated home charger.
A 3-pin socket provides much less power than a dedicated EV charge point, meaning that adding a significant amount of range can take many hours. It can be useful when you’re away from home, staying somewhere without an EV charger, or simply need to add some range when other options aren’t available.
For regular home charging, a dedicated charge point offers a faster, purpose-built and more convenient solution.
A dedicated 7kW home charge point is designed specifically for charging your electric vehicle. It provides significantly more power than a standard 3-pin socket and is ideally suited to charging your car while it is parked at home.
For many EV drivers, this makes home charging the easiest way to manage their everyday driving. Simply plug in when you arrive home and let your car charge overnight, ready for the next day.
A smart home charger can also help you make better use of your electricity. Compatible off-peak and dynamic tariffs can allow you to schedule charging when electricity costs less, while smart features can help you monitor your energy consumption and charging costs.
If you have solar panels, compatible home charging can also allow you to make greater use of electricity generated at home.
Public charging is an important part of EV ownership, particularly for longer journeys. Chargers are available at motorway services, car parks, supermarkets, retail destinations and other locations.
Charging speeds vary depending on the charger. AC destination chargers can be useful when your car will be parked for a while, while rapid and ultra-rapid chargers can add substantial range during longer journeys.
Public charging gives you the flexibility to recharge when you’re away from home, but costs, availability and charging speeds can vary between locations. For everyday driving, having the option to charge at home can reduce the need to make additional charging stops, while public chargers remain invaluable for longer trips.
You don’t need to rely on one charging method. A typical EV driver might:
With an Andersen Quartz installed at home, you have a dedicated place to charge whenever your car is parked at home - helping make EV ownership as convenient as possible.
Engineered and manufactured in the UK, the Andersen Quartz combines architectural aesthetics with advanced charging technology. Designed to complement modern EV styling, it delivers smart energy management directly to your driveway.
Rather than making a separate trip to find a charger, you can plug in when you get home and charge overnight. Your car can be ready with the range you need for the next day, without having to fit a charging stop into your routine.
Once your home charger is installed, charging can become as simple as plugging in when you arrive home. Smart scheduling means you can set your vehicle to charge automatically during your preferred hours.
Depending on your electricity tariff, charging overnight or during other off-peak periods can cost considerably less than using public rapid charging. A smart home charger can help you make the most of these lower-cost periods by scheduling charging automatically.
When your EV is connected to your home charger, you can schedule heating or air conditioning before you set off. This means you can step into a comfortably pre-conditioned vehicle while reducing the impact on your battery’s available driving range.
With a reliable charging option at home, public rapid and ultra-rapid chargers can be reserved for the journeys where they’re most useful, such as longer trips and days when you need to add range quickly.
Adding a home charger to your new electric vehicle purchase is straightforward.
Speak to your sales advisor during your vehicle purchase or enquiry. You’ll answer a few brief questions to confirm your property is suitable and select your preferred payment method.
Once your order has been submitted, Andersen EV will contact you within 24 working hours. You’ll receive a simple digital survey by email, which you can complete on your smartphone by providing photographs of your home electrics and preferred charger location.
Once your survey is complete, the Andersen team will book a convenient installation appointment for you. We aim to time your installation as close to your vehicle’s delivery date as possible. Your engineer will fully install and test your charger to all relevant safety standards, walk you through its key features, and help you get connected to the Andersen App.
