Our Story
Vertu Motors plc began in 2006 with a bold ambition: to bring together the very best of UK motor retail under one dynamic, customer‑focused brand. What started as a new entrant to the sector has grown into one of the UK’s most recognisable automotive groups, proudly listed on the AIM market.
Today, we operate over 200 dealerships nationwide, offering new and used cars, servicing, parts and MOTs — all under one trusted name. With more than 30 of the world’s leading manufacturers represented, Vertu offers vehicles for every kind of driver, from first‑time buyers to premium performance enthusiasts.
A Century of Bristol Street Motors
Bristol Street Motors has been woven into the fabric of British motoring for over 100 years. It began as a single Ford dealership on Bristol Street in central Birmingham, a modest start that grew into one of the UK’s most recognised and respected automotive brands.
The Next Chapter of a Trusted Name
Over the decades Bristol Street Motors expanded across the country, representing a wide range of popular manufacturers including BYD, Citroen, CUPRA, Dacia, Ford, Hyundai, Mazda, MG, Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, SEAT, SKODA and Vauxhall. Its reputation was built on friendly service, community roots and a commitment to making car ownership accessible to everyone. The Vertu Group
acquired Bristol Street Motors in March 2007, and continued to operate and expand the dealerships with the same commitment to excellent customer experience.
In April 2025, Bristol Street Motors dealerships proudly transitioned to the Vertu name. This wasn’t the end of the Bristol Street story, just the next chapter. The heritage, values, and customer‑first spirit that defined Bristol Street Motors continue with Vertu’s expansive dealership network.
Macklin Motors: Our Scottish Heritage
Vertu’s expansion into Scotland began in 2010 with the launch of Macklin Motors. From day one, Macklin Motors was built on the same principles that shaped Vertu; exceptional service, trusted advice ,and a genuine connection to local communities.
Representing brands such as Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Nissan, Peugeot, Vauxhall and Toyota, Macklin Motors quickly became a familiar name across Scotland. Its dealerships were known for their warm welcome and deep understanding of Scottish customers’ needs.
In February 2025, Macklin Motors dealerships were rebranded to Vertu, bringing Scotland fully into the Vertu network. The Macklin legacy remains an important part of who we are, a reminder of our commitment to serving customers across the whole of the UK.
