BMW Motorrad is celebrating 100 years of the Nurburgring with the unveiling of three special edition models that celebrate the notorious ‘Green Hell’.
Though the modern-day grand prix circuit has been in operation since 1984, the original venue was designed and constructed back in 1927. From that came the development of the infamous Nordschleife, a huge 14-mile route of challenging bends and undulating crests.
Nicknamed ‘the Green Hell’, the Nordschleife remains in operation today for selected events – such as the Nurburgring 24-Hours – and private track days, while it is also a test bed for manufacturers tuning prototype models.
In 2027, the venue will celebrate its 100th anniversary, a landmark that BMW is honouring with the unveiling of limited-edition upgrades for six cars and three motorcycles.
On the two-wheel side, the BMW M 1000 RR, the BMW M 1000 R and BMW M 1000 XR, which will be known as ‘100 Jahre Nurburgring’ editions.
Limited to 100 units worldwide, all three machines come with the M Track Package as standard, plus historical Nurburgring green paint, anniversary decals, carbon wheels, black rear swingarm and rear frame, and a seat in Alcantara look with “100” embroidery.
The painted fuel tank with Nordschleife decor and the airbox cover with anniversary design and “one of 100” marking create a direct link to the racetrack.
An M Cover Kit for the BMW M 1000 RR and BMW M 1000 R, an exclusive M motorcycle mat with 100 Jahre Nürburgring logo, and a paddock stand for the rear wheel complete the package.
