Honda sharpens CBR600RR for 2027

Honda has updated the Honda CBR600RR for 2027, with Fireblade-derived brakes, a sleeker front end, and a larger TFT display among the headline changes. The 599cc inline four-cylinder engine still produces 89kW at 14,250rpm, but almost everything around it has been reworked to add precision on road and track.

A supersport with proper race pedigree

Few middleweights carry the racing CV of the CBR600RR. The model took World Supersport titles every year from 2003 to 2008, plus wins in 2010, 2012, and 2014. It powered the Moto2 class between 2010 and 2018 and swept Asia Road Racing from 2012 to 2016.

After leaving European showrooms in 2017, the model returned for 24YM to a warmer market. More than 9,600 units have found owners across Europe since.

Fireblade-derived brakes take centre stage

The headline CBR600RR update for 27YM sits at the front wheel. Honda has lifted the four-piston Nissin radial-mount calipers straight from the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. They now clamp dual 310mm floating discs through a radial-piston master cylinder, with improved heat resistance under heavy braking.

The ABS module has also moved across from the Fireblade, unlocking three selectable modes. Standard focuses on stability for wider conditions and wet-weather use. Track sharpens response and removes rear lift control. Race goes further still, disabling rear ABS entirely for maximum front-only intervention – a setting intended for the circuit.

Electronics drawn from the top shelf

Managing the electronics is a Bosch six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which calculates 100 times a second through Honda's own algorithm. It feeds Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) across nine levels, Wheelie Control, Rear Lift Control, and Cornering ABS.

Three default riding modes cover most needs: Mode 1 for Fast Riding, Mode 2 for Fun Riding, and Mode 3 for Comfortable Riding. Two USER modes let riders dial in engine power across five levels, engine brake across three, and wheelie control across three (plus off). A standard-fit quickshifter rounds things out with three levels of feel adjustment.

Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) remains part of the package. The system varies its damping force relative to velocity for stability at speed.

A cleaner front end, with downforce intact

The CBR600RR's lower winglets have been reshaped into a frontal spoiler that integrates neatly beneath the headlights. Honda's engineers say downforce and drag are both unchanged, but the look is sleeker. Airflow now moves more cleanly away from the rider's arms, cutting fatigue and buffeting at pace.

The riding position carries over for 27YM, with the fuel tank shaped so riders can tuck in at high speed. The screen sits at 38 degrees for aerodynamic efficiency, and seat height stays at 820mm. Radiator cooling and front-wheel airflow have been re-engineered to reduce resistance across the fairing.

Upgraded TFT and lighting

A new five-inch full-colour TFT display handles dashboard duties, with lap times, fastest lap, and lap count available alongside standard riding data. Five white LED shift-up indicators sit above the central display, flashing at a pre-set rpm when it is time to change gear.

Lighting is LED front and back. Honda's Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) activates the indicators under hard braking to warn following traffic. Honda Ignition Security System (HISS) continues on security duties, with a dash-mounted LED that flashes for 24 hours after switch-off.

Three new HRC Race Kits for the track

Riders chasing lap times get a new option in 2027. Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) has developed three separate HRC Race Kit options for the CBR600RR, aimed at World Supersport, Superbike, and track day use. All kits raise engine performance, sharpen cornering grip, and strip weight.

HRC parts – ECU, wiring harness, cylinder head gasket, big radiator, racing exhaust, suspension, and brake discs – can be bought as complete kits or individually. The parts are for circuit use only.

Colours and accessory packs

Buyers can choose between two colour options. Matte Ballistic Black Metallic offers a nod to the winter testing liveries from Honda's race teams. Ignition Red TriColour is the signature livery of Honda Racing Corporation.

Two Genuine Honda Accessories Packs are also available. The Racing Pack adds an HRC-logo oil filler cap, a Carbon Look tank pad, HRC Tri-Colour wheel stripes, and a seat cowl in Black or Red. The Comfort Pack brings a tapered 15-litre rear seat bag that expands to 22 litres, five-level heated grips, and a USB-C charging socket.
