New BYD Seal 6 Deals

Overview of the New BYD Seal 6

BYD Seal 6 DM-i is the first BYD plug in hybrid saloon and estate to arrive on UK roads ? and it brings a fundamentally different approach to the family car.

BYD stands for Build Your Dreams ? and the Seal 6 DM-i is one of the clearest expressions of that ambition yet. In just a few years, BYD has grown from a name unfamiliar to most UK drivers into one of the world's best-selling car manufacturers, and the Seal 6 PHEV shows exactly why.

Powered by BYD's Super Hybrid with DM (Dual Mode) technology, it delivers an EV driving experience for everyday journeys, with a 1.5-litre petrol engine on standby for longer trips.

The BYD Seal 6 is available as a saloon or as an estate ? also known as the Seal 6 DM-i Touring. You'll find the estate listed here on Vertu as the BYD Seal 6 estate, which corresponds to BYD's own 'Touring' designation. Both names refer to the same car, and you'll see them used interchangeably throughout this page.

Three trim levels are available: Boost, Comfort Lite, and Comfort, spanning a 10.08kWh Blade Battery in Boost to a larger 19kWh unit across the two Comfort grades.

With a WLTP combined range of up to 581 miles in the saloon and 521 miles in the estate, the BYD Seal 6 DM-i makes a compelling case as a long range hybrid car for families, company car hybrid drivers, and high-mileage commuters alike.

Every version is backed by BYD's top-of-the-line six-year vehicle warranty and eight-year battery cover.

Interior of the BYD Seal 6

The BYD Seal 6 DM-i's ocean-inspired cabin wraps around you. Flowing lines run from the dashboard to the door panels, creating a spacious, immersive feel that belies the car's C-segment dimensions.

A 15.6-inch floating touchscreen dominates the Comfort trim dashboard ? the largest BYD infotainment system display in the class by a significant margin. Comfort Lite and Boost trims feature a 12.8-inch driver display screen.

All grades include the 'Hi BYD' intelligent voice assistant, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, DAB+ radio, and on-board 4G connectivity.

Front seats are electrically adjustable on every trim, enveloped in premium vegan leather with adjustable headrests throughout. Comfort Lite and Comfort add heated and ventilated front seats with position memory, a heated steering wheel, wireless 50W smartphone charging, and an eight-speaker Hi-Fi audio system. Comfort goes further with rhythm-reactive multi-colour ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof with an electrically adjustable sunshade.

Rear passengers enjoy spacious rear seats with legroom and headroom that rivals cars in the class above, complemented by rear air vents and USB charging as standard.

The saloon offers 491 litres of boot space, rising to 1,370 litres with the rear seats folded. The hybrid estate boot space is top-tier: 500 litres to the parcel shelf, 675 litres loaded to the roofline, and 1,535 litres with the rear seats flat ? ample for everything from weekly supermarket runs to full camping weekends.

Exterior of the BYD Seal 6

The BYD Seal 6 DM-i wears BYD's 'Ocean X' design language with confidence ? a wave-inspired front grille, sculpted dual waistlines, and an active air intake that combine to deliver clean, dynamic proportions.

Crystal-inspired full-LED headlights with a Double-L light signature and layered LED-matrix tail lights create a distinctive visual identity across both body styles, day or night.

Boost trim rides on 17-inch 'flying axe-style' alloy wheels; Comfort Lite and Comfort step up to 18-inch alloys for a more assertive stance.

The saloon achieves a drag coefficient of just 0.248Cd ? a figure that contributes directly to its remarkable low fuel consumption hybrid credentials. The estate carries the same front-end design, with a gently sloping rear roofline and a contrast D-pillar that creates a 'floating' effect. Even in estate form, a drag coefficient of 0.280Cd is impressively low for the body style.

Touring-specific exterior features include standard aluminium roof rails, a powered hands-free tailgate, and a rear windscreen wiper for clear visibility on long journeys.

Four paint finishes are available across all trims ? Polar White (standard metallic), Obsidian Black, Atlantis Blue, and Sandstone ? with Black or Grey interior choices.

BYD Seal 6 Trims and Specifications

The BYD Seal 6 DM-i is available in three trim levels across both the saloon and estate body styles.

Boost delivers a comprehensive entry-level specification: 12.8-inch touchscreen, keyless entry and start, electrically adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, reversing camera, adaptive cruise control, and a full driver assistance systems suite including lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking.

Comfort Lite is the mid-grade trim, matching Comfort's full feature set but retaining the 12.8-inch screen rather than Comfort's 15.6-inch display ? the practical choice for buyers who want everything Comfort offers at a sharper price.

Comfort is the flagship trim, adding the class-leading 15.6-inch floating touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, heated and ventilated front seats with memory, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, front parking sensors, 360-degree camera, 18-inch alloys, and privacy glass.

All Touring (estate) trims include three features not present on the saloon: standard aluminium roof rails, a powered hands-free tailgate, and a rear windscreen wiper.

BYD Seal 6 DM-i Engines and Performance

Every BYD Seal 6 DM-i is a BYD hybrid ? there is no purely petrol or purely electric variant.

The DM-i hybrid system pairs a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, driving the front wheels through an automatic transmission.

What makes DM-i particularly effective is how it prioritises electric driving. The PHEV car retains the smooth, responsive feel throughout any environment.

In Boost trim, the 10.08kWh Blade Battery provides 34 miles of electric-only driving range in the saloon and 31 miles in the estate ? sufficient for most daily commutes without touching the fuel tank. Comfort Lite and Comfort trims upgrade to a 19kWh Blade Battery, extending EV mode driving to 65 miles in the saloon and 62 miles in the estate.

When the battery is depleted, the petrol engine takes over seamlessly, extending the plug-in hybrid range to up to 581 miles combined in the Boost saloon ? a WLTP figure that makes it one of the most capable options for hybrid for long distance driving in its class.

Comfort Lite and Comfort trims pair the larger battery with a 6.6kW AC on-board charger and 26kW DC fast charging, achieving a 30?80% charge in just 23 minutes. Boost charges via 3.3kW AC only, with no DC fast charging option.

Like all BYD electric and hybrid vehicles, every Seal 6 version supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging as standard at 3.3kW ? enough to power devices from a portable grill to an air compressor, wherever your journey takes you.

New BYD Plug-in Hybrid Seal 6 Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Range of the BYD Seal 6?

The BYD Seal 6 DM-i delivers a WLTP combined range of up to 935 km (581 miles) in Boost saloon trim, and up to 904 km (562 miles) in Comfort Lite and Comfort saloon grades.

In estate (Touring) form, both Boost and Comfort variants achieve up to 839 km (521 miles) of combined range.

On electric power alone, Boost trim covers up to 34 miles in the saloon and 31 miles in the estate. Upgrade to Comfort Lite or Comfort and the 19kWh Blade Battery extends that to 65 miles (saloon) or 62 miles (estate) ? enough for the majority of daily commutes without using a drop of fuel.

How Does the DM-i Hybrid System Work?

DM-i stands for Dual Mode intelligent ? BYD's approach to plug-in hybrid technology that prioritises electric driving above all else.

The system pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor and a Blade Battery. In most driving conditions, the petrol engine acts primarily as a generator, charging the battery rather than driving the wheels directly. The electric motor does the work of actually moving the car.

The result is a driving experience that feels genuinely EV-like for everyday journeys, with the petrol engine providing a seamless extension of range when you need it. Charge the battery regularly and you'll rarely need to visit a fuel station for shorter trips.

How Fast Does the BYD Seal 6 Charge?

Charging speed depends on the trim. Boost trim supports 3.3kW AC charging only, with a 15?100% charge time of around three hours on a compatible wallbox or public charger.

Comfort Lite and Comfort trims upgrade to a 6.6kW AC on-board charger ? halving the home charge time to around 2.7 hours ? and add 26kW DC fast charging capability. On a compatible DC rapid charger, a 30?80% charge takes just 23 minutes.

All versions also support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) at 3.3kW, so you can use the car's battery to power external devices wherever you are.

What Is the BYD Seal 6 Comfort Lite?

Comfort Lite is the middle trim of the BYD Seal 6 DM-i range, sitting between Boost and Comfort.

It matches Comfort's full feature set ? including heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging, eight-speaker Hi-Fi audio, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, front parking sensors, 360-degree camera, 18-inch alloys, and privacy glass ? with one difference: it retains the 12.8-inch touchscreen rather than Comfort's 15.6-inch floating display.

Vehicle reviews are conducted by an independent reviewer, information, images and specifications included may not be correct.
