While BMW as a brand will have a relatively minor presence on the 2026 British Superbike Championship grid, what it lacks in entry numbers it makes up for in star quality.

The German manufacturer’s representation will comprise two teams and three riders in 2026, but they include Isle of Man TT legends Peter Hickman and Davey Todd, plus reigning National Superstock Champion Ilya Mikhalchik.

Hickman and Todd team up again as part of the LEW 8TEN Racing outfit that will dovetail its commitments in BSB with multiple road racing events, including the TT and the North West 200.

Alas, the opening round of the season at Oulton Park will see just the one LEW 8TEN Racing entry on the grid as Todd is still recovering from injuries sustained in an accident at the top of the year during the Daytona 200.

As such, Hickman will fly the flag for the team in Cheshire, the TT Mountain Course lap record holder bidding to put a difficult 2025 BSB campaign behind him with a view to returning BMW to the sharp end of the grid.

Joining him among the BMW M 1000 RR ranks, however, will be highly rated Ukrainian racer Mikhalchik, who gets his chance in BSB after claiming the National Superstock Championship title in 2025.

Despite it being his first season competing on British soil, Mikhalchik was the dominant force throughout the year, claiming 11 victories from 18 races.

With prior experience of the BMW M 1000 RR Superbike package from competing in WorldSBK and the Endurance World Championship, Mikhalchik is now being tipped as a dark horse for the 2026 BSB title on the ROKiT-backed machine.
