Defending champion Barry Burrell extended his lead in the ROKiT BMW F 900 R Cup during the most recent round at Cadwell Park as the season moves into its latter stages.

With just two rounds to go at Assen and Brands Hatch, Burrell is armed with a comfortable 26-point lead over Kieran Smith, while Nikki Coates and Bobby Varney are each 35-points adrift of the top spot.

Burrell on the Halliwell Jones BMW has stretched his lead over the competition on the back of a strong run that has yielded four Main Race wins in seven starts.

It comes after a disappointing start to the season left him without points in the wake of the opening event at Donington Park.

However, Main Race wins at Knockhill, Snetterton, Oulton Park and Thruxton – as well as second places at Brands Hatch and Cadwell Park - have shuffled him back to the top of the order.

There still remains plenty to play for over two events, however, with the upcoming Assen round – held in the Netherlands – featuring an increased programme of two heats, a sprint and a Main Race with more points on the table.

Victory at Cadwell Park went the way of Varney, who moves into fourth overall as a result.

For Burrell – a former BSB podium winner - the run of strong results puts him on good course for consecutive BMW F 900 R Cup Championships having claimed the 2025 title too.
