Audi has offered a first glimpse of the lavishly appointed interior for the forthcoming Audi Q9 luxury SUV ahead of the model’s official launch in July.
A brand-new SUV flagship that will sit above the Q7 in the German firm’s range, the Audi Q9 has so far been previewed in camouflage livery but the sheer scale of the model is clear from the outset.
It is being launched to give Audi a contender in the upper tier of the SUV segment, where it will rival fellow premium options like the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS and Range Rover.
While even the camo can’t fully disguise Audi’s signature design touches that will bring it right into line with an SUV line-up that also comprises the Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5, Q6, Q7 and Q8, the final product won’t be seen for another couple of months.
In the meantime, Audi has opened the doors on the interior, revealing a sophisticated design that marries premium quality with contemporary technology.
The layout incorporates a triple screen set-up similar to what has been seen in the new Audi Q5 and Q6 e-tron, which collectively stretches across the breadth of the fascia.
As expected, Audi’s reputation for quality materials is taken to a new level in the Q9 with a mix of upholstered surfaces, muted tones and signature carbon-fibre evident.
Moreover, the options list will also include real wood trim, while Nappa leather and alpaca wool are among the choices for seat fabrics.
The audio system will also be of the finest standard with a new Bang & Olufsen set up featuring premium stereo with 4D sound capabilities.
The Q9 will be available with the choice of either seven seats or six seats, with the latter featuring two ‘captain chairs’ on each row for the ultimate lap of luxury.
Even with three rows, the sheer size of the Q9 ensures there is plenty of boot space to spare with a full compliment of seats in place.
