The Ford Capri and Ford Explorer have become the latest models to have their prices reduced after receiving eligibility for the UK’s Electric Car Grant (ECG).
They become the third and fourth electric models from Blue Oval to get a government-backed discount, the SUV pair – which are based on the same platform – receiving a Band 2 level £1,500 off each.
This brings the starting price of the Ford Explorer down to £33,685*, with the Ford Capri range now getting underway at £35,485*.
It should be noted that the grant doesn’t apply across the entire Explorer and Capri line-up, with upper end models in the range not included in the ECG.

All three trims – Style, Select and Premium – available with the Explorer are eligible, though the latter can only be had with the Standard Range battery capable of 239-miles of range (WLTP).
The bigger 77kWh battery – known as Long Range – can be had with Style and Select trims and is quoted with up to 354-miles of WLTP range.
The more style-conscious Ford Capri, meanwhile, has its grant applied to the Standard Range powertrain but it can be mated to either Style or Premium trims.
The Explorer and Capri join the Ford Puma Gen-E and Ford E-Tourneo Courier in Ford’s ECG-discounted line-up, though the latter two models do receive the maximum Band 1 grant of £3,750.
