Honda has announced a new special run of its mid-size hybrid coupe with the unveiling of the Honda Prelude 2027 Limited Edition.
Inspired by ‘gliders and powered by Honda engineering’, according to the Japanese manufacturer, the ‘Limited Edition’ will arrive this autumn featuring cosmetic changes designed to give it an upmarket feel.
From the outset, the Prelude 2027 Limited Edition is identified by its unique Premium Crystal Garnet Metallic paint finish, which Honda says has been engineered to ‘catch the light and accentuate the car’s fluid contours’.
The design is further amplified by 19-inch black cut alloy wheels, Honda signature red accents on the front and rear bumpers and bold red Brembo brake calipers.
The deep red colour theme continues inside where the Prelude gets a premium makeover with what Honda refers to as a ‘rich Bordeaux interior design’. Red stitching to the steering wheel, centre console and dashboard is also included, while the pattern is repeated on the upholstery too.
Each Prelude Limited Edition also gets a Prelude logo embroidered on the dashboard to give it an exclusive finish.
Under the skin, the Prelude 2027 Limited Edition continues to get Honda’s e:HEV hybrid set-up generating 184bhp, while it also comes with the manufacturer’s trick S+ Shift technology, which can simulate virtual gear changes via a steering wheel paddle.
Tomoyuki Yamagami, Large Project Leader for the Honda Prelude, said: “The characteristics of the Prelude have changed over the years, but what has remained the same is its sportiness and specialty.
“When you think of a sports car, you think of something sharp, like an F1 or a fighter jet.
"However, I think the theme of this model is closer to the image of a glider that glides through the air with a sense of freedom.”
