There is an increasing tendency among vehicle manufacturers to broaden their range, and offer all things to all people, in the hope that they gain a customer for life. For example a supermini for the singletons looking for a great city car, or a large SUV for families with their own 5-aside football team in tow.
Traditionally, Jaguar have never been a run-of-the-mill car manufacturer, and their ethos is more about quality than quantity, which means (thankfully) they’ve avoided the route of diluting their product into every market possible. They’re not ‘exclusive’ by any means, but you won’t be tripping over them.
With that said, they did take the decision to enter the world of SUVs in 2015, which at first thought seemed like quite a radical departure from their traditional sports cars or luxury saloons, but it made perfect sense; luxury SUVs gave them the opportunity to show off their engineering prowess and ability.
