A new car on the Motability Scheme doesn’t have to come with a large upfront cost. This quarter’s price list includes plenty of cars with an Advance Payment under £750, and several have no Advance Payment at all.
We’ve rewritten this guide for applications made between Thursday 1st October and Thursday 31st December 2026, so every price below reflects the current list.
How Advance Payments Work
Your weekly mobility allowance covers the cost of a standard lease. If you choose a car that costs more, you pay the difference as a one-off Advance Payment when you order.
Advance Payments are non-refundable. Since Wednesday 1st July 2026, they also include 20% VAT on most new leases.
You may remember the £750 New Vehicle Payment, which could go towards an Advance Payment. It isn’t available to new customers, because it only applied to people who ordered their first vehicle by Friday 3rd January 2025. If you joined before then and haven’t received it yet, our team can check whether it applies to you.

Advance Payments Between £250 and £500

Advance Payments Between £500 and £750
Vauxhall Frontera Electric, from £699. This fully electric family SUV is the only car Vertu offers in this band this quarter. Explore Vauxhall Motability Scheme cars.
Just above the £750 mark, the petrol manual Hyundai Tucson starts from £799.
Choosing the Right Car for You
Price is only one part of the decision. If transfers are difficult, compare seat heights and how wide the doors open, as SUVs often make getting in and out easier.
Check that the boot opening and floor height suit any wheelchair or scooter you carry. An automatic gearbox can also make a real difference if you find a clutch pedal uncomfortable.
Finally, think about how far you drive. New three-year leases include 30,000 miles, and you can pay for extra miles if you need them.
