Next Alpine A110 Sports Car to Tease its Electric Future

Alpine has confirmed it will offer up more details of what to expect from the third generation Alpine A110 sports car during this month’s Paris Motor Show.

The high-end French brand – which recently joined Vertu’s expansive network of automotive partners – is enjoying a surge of popularity on the back of a successful model line-up expansion.

Headed up by the launch of the Alpine A290, a more exclusive and powerful rendition of the top-selling Renault 5 E-Tech, and complemented by the recently launched Alpine A390 coupe-SUV crossover, the move into alternative markets has seen the storied brand’s sales figures soar.

For many, however, it is the A110 lightweight sportscar that is considered Alpine’s core model having helped to relaunch the standalone brand almost ten years ago.

Going on to win a loyal following and earn widespread critical acclaim from the motoring press in that time, the Alpine A110 has regularly been touted as ‘the world’s best handling car’.

Now Alpine is turning its attention to the much anticipated third generation A110, which will have a lofty reputation to uphold when it does eventually arrive.

Significantly, the new iteration will switch to electric power in line with the A290 and A390, presenting a major technical challenge for engineers given the A110’s signature feathery weight and delicately balanced chassis is somewhat at odds with size and mass associated with batteries.

Nevertheless, Alpine is forging ahead and is promising to reveal more details – and maybe even a teasing first glimpse at – the third generation A110 during the upcoming Paris Motor Show.

Elsewhere on the stand, Alpine will showcase special editions for both the A290 hot hatchback and the A390 SUV that put the emphasis on exclusivity.

The Alpine A290 Collection comes in Blanc Nival or Bleu Orage mat paint, a black roof as standard, body-colour wheel arches and 19-inch diamond-cut Snowflake wheels, plus, silver front brake calipers and chrome monograms.

The Atelier Alpine A390 GTS feature new Bleu Tempête Mat body colour with a black roof and ‘Snowflake’ alloy wheels, while inside you’ll find new Alpine sport seats by Sabelt with genuine leather Nappa gris, Alpine monogram.
