Sunderland bounced back from the heavy home defeat against Blackburn Rovers with a pair of draws in the latest round of EFL Championship fixtures.

The Black Cats had gone down to a 5-1 defeat on Easter Monday and returned to action against Bristol City at the Stadium of Light bidding to avoid a further damaging loss.

Facing off against the side directly above in the table, Sunderland dominated in front of goal but found Max O’Leary in inspired form as he pulled off a number of saves to deny the home side.

Adil Adouchiche and Bradley Dack both hit the woodwork but Sunderland had to settle for a point as neither side managed to break the deadlock.

Next up was a trip to title-chasing Leeds, who were unbeaten at Elland Road and were keen to avoid a repeat of the defeat they had suffered at the Stadium of Light earlier in the season.

Leeds were denied a penalty on two occasions in the first half and would find Sunderland’s defence in fine form as Dan Ballard and Luke O’Nien were able to get the better of Dan Ballard and Crysencio Summerville through the game.

Jack Clarke and Patrick Roberts had chances for the visitors but the points were once again shared to leave Sunderland sitting 13th in the table going into a game away at West Brom this weekend.
