Britain’s cheapest car just became even better value after Dacia announced its pint-sized electric city car, the Dacia Spring, will now start from just £11,990*.
Also the UK’s most affordable electric car, the Spring’s significant reduction in price hasn’t come at the expense of specification either with trim levels remaining the same as prior to the cost drop.
As such, the entry-level Dacia Spring Expression 70 – which comes with a 24.3kWh battery that generates 69bhp – is now available for a sub-£12,000 price tag but comes equipped with air-conditioning, cruise control, rear parking sensors and Dacia’s Media Control system.
Upgrade to the Dacia Spring Extreme 100 – which features the same battery but ups the power to 99bhp – and kit levels add a 10.1-inch screen with Media Nav Live and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, V2L functionality, copper-accented styling and electric rear windows for £12,990.
Both models feature a 308-litre boot, which expands to 1,004-litres with the rear seats folded.
Lina Ribeiro, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, said: “Dacia has always worked hard to remove barriers to new car ownership, and with Spring’s new pricing, it takes our purpose further than ever.
“Production efficiencies and a strong drive to continue to offer real value to our customers have helped us pass on the savings and as such the most affordable new car on the market, electric or otherwise, is one of the smartest value choices on the road today.
“When the price is clear and the running costs are low, going electric simply makes sense.”
