The all-new Nissan LEAF has received a lower entry price point after it was confirmed a 52kWh variant is being added to the range to celebrate order books officially opening.
The third-generation model is one of the year’s most anticipated new launches and has already swept up a series of awards prior to going on sale, including Autotrader’s Editor’s Choice Award and Auto Express’ 2026 Car of the Year.
With order books opening on 1 July 2026, Nissan has announced the LEAF – which was originally announced with a 75kWh battery – will also be available with a more value-oriented 52kWh battery too.
As with the larger battery model, the LEAF 52kWh comes with the full Electric Car Discount of £3,750, which brings the starting price down to just £28,849*.
Available in Engage and Advance grades, the LEAF 52kWh boasts a competitive 280-miles of combined range (WLTP). By comparison, the Volkswagen ID.3 52kWh offers 240-miles of range, while the MG4 Urban 54kWh is good for 260-miles.
Moreover, the LEAF – which will be built at Nissan’s Sunderland plant - presents a 437-litre boot, while even the entry Engage trim gets 18-onch alloy wheels, dual 12.3-inch display screen, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2L) compatibility and paddle shifts for regeneration control.
Aditya Moorthy, Product Manager at NMGB, said: “We are excited to introduce the new 52kWh battery option on the All-New Nissan LEAF, offering up to 280 miles of range (WLTP) and starting at an attractive £28,849 with the Electric Car Grant.
“Designed for everyday driving, it combines confident electric performance with the comfort, technology and practicality customers expect from LEAF.”
