Bigger, bolder and smarter than ever – the new Hyundai Tucson is improved in all the important areas, including a more muscular exterior and a purposeful, organised and intuitive interior.

The all-new Tucson takes a different approach to the rugged SUV look than its forebears, proudly displaying structural strength and commanding road presence through muscular exterior proportions, combined with purposefully sculpted geometric surfaces and sharp, vertical character lines.

Bold wheel arches reinforce the confident SUV stance, and paired with the upright height and wide, full-width light bar across the nose and tail, the new Tucson has a distinctive, recognisable look, whether it’s day or night.

For the driver, the Tucson has been designed to keep you informed, without unnecessary distraction – a slim 9.9-inch digital instrument display places the essential information directly in your line of sight, while a central touchscreen is on hand to provide intuitive access to navigation, connectivity and settings. In order to keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel, physical buttons have also been included, offering quick, natural access to frequently used functions.

Longer and wider than previous models, increasing by 35mm in both length and width, the Tucson’s cabin gives passengers a generous amount of room to stretch out and get comfortable. The space is well-furnished with more premium fabrics than seen previously, with every surface, from soft cushioning to the ergonomic displays, designed to support the reduction of stress. Visual refinement, thoughtful comfort and a premium user experience are clearly prioritised for both driver and passengers.

In this new model, thoughtful touches throughout the cabin not only provide comfort, but also intuitive practicality, particularly for families – sliding rear seats offer more flexibility of space, while wider opening rear doors (increasing from 73 degrees to 83 degrees) make rear seat access even easier than before. Additionally, a best in-class 695-litres of boot space ensures anything and everything can come along for the ride.

When the weather doesn’t turn out in your favour, the new Tucson lets you fall back on the hidden umbrella holders and even a 13.5V Metal-Coated Heated Glass windscreen, offering de-icing in the winter and solar energy rejection to keep the interior cooler in the summer.

The new Tucson incorporates a broad range of connectivity, infotainment and driver-assistance technologies, designed to make everyday journeys safe and simple. Pleos Connect, the system running across the displays and infotainment screen, integrates an AI voice recognition system, allowing drivers to access functions and information without navigating on-screen menus.

As well as the voice assistant, a selection of other driver assist technologies feature on the new Tucson, including reversing assistance, Ground View Monitor and Remote Smart Parking Assist, with further options such as a digital centre mirror available, providing an unobstructed view, regardless of passengers or stacked-up luggage.

Equipped with seven airbags, a hot-stamped high-strength steel body and reinforced centre pillars, the Tucson is designed to safely manage impact forces in the event of a collision.

The powertrain line-up includes a 150 PS 1.6 T-GDI petrol engine, offered with either a six-speed manual transmission or a 48V mild hybrid system and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT), alongside Hyundai’s hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.

The hybrid delivers 245 PS and 380 Nm of torque, while the plug-in hybrid Tucson PHEV marries a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a plug-in hybrid system producing up to 292 PS and 380 Nm of torque.

As of writing, the 17.1 kWh battery is claimed to provide an estimated electric-only range of up to 81 km with 17-inch wheels, but this figure is subject to final homologation. Final pricing is also yet to be confirmed.*
