Leapmotor revealed its next UK-bound car, the B03, at the Paris Motor Show over the weekend, rivalling the likes of the Renault 5 and Volkswagen ID. Polo with bright and cheerful charm.

Already on sale in China, the practical and agile Leapmotor B03 measures in at 4,175mm long and 1,790mm wide, just slightly bigger than the Renault 5, but has a turning circle tighter than the smaller Dacia Spring.

Through integrating the Lithium Ferro-Phosphate battery into the B03’s structure, Leapmotor have increased structural rigidity throughout the car, as well as increased space inside. The 53kWh battery can charge from 10-80% in just 21 minutes, provides 242 miles of WLTP range and is capable of Vehicle-To-Load connection.

The exterior has been designed to create a warm and approachable personality, with clean lines, flowing surfaces and harmonious proportions, claimed to deliver “everyday joy” on its travels.

The interior appears far more spacious than its compact scale would suggest, with Honda Jazz-adjacent flipping and folding seats, called LeapFlex seating, and a 405 litre boot capacity. The front passenger seat also folds flat, allowing you to load long and awkward cargo without hassle.

As for the dashboard, the layout has been created to maximise space and versatility – it features a 14.6-inch central display, paired with a slim 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.

Adding a bit more fun to the mix, Leapmotor’s mascot Leappy is hidden throughout the cabin – multicolour ambient lighting is also present, able to sync with the driver’s music, as well as integrating with parking sensors and door-opening collision warnings for intuitive user alerts.

Speaking of safety, it is a core pillar in the B03’s design, with an impressive driver assistance suite of more than 21 systems, including 14 sensors and cameras, eliminating the blind spots that some with single sensors.

Like the other Leapmotor models, the B03 follows the same policy, offering a single, generously equipped trim level with the highest specification as standard. This includes alloy wheels, a 360-degree parking camera, all the safety features, heated seats, remote air conditioning control and more.

When the car lands, it will be available with five paint finishes, including Light White, Sunstone Orange, Seaweed Green, Galaxy Silver and Sandstone. For the interior, there’s a stylish Currant Black theme as standard, with Ivory Mist grey available as a no-cost option.

Set to go on sale in 2027, the final pricing is unconfirmed, but the B03 is expected to drive competition, priced as a lower-cost rival to the Renault 5. In the meantime, you can view the available Leapmotor range at Vertu.
