Geely has confirmed it will bolster its UK line-up with the launch of a premium plug-in hybrid SUV, the Geely Monjaro EM-i.
The latest addition to its burgeoning range of electric and PHEV models, the Monjaro EM-i will sit above the EX5 and Starray EM-i SUVs as Chinese marque’s flagship model.
Set to go head-to-head with the Omoda 9 SHS and Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV, the Monjaro EM-i shares much of its platform with various Volvo models, the outcome of Geely holding ownership of the respected Swedish manufacturer.
Built on Geely’s ‘world-class new-energy-native GEA Evo architecture’, the manufacturer is claiming ‘flagship-level breakthroughs in space, performance, intelligence and safety’.
Geely also says the Monjaro EM-i will be its first overseas model to come equipped with its Xingrui Intelligent Large Language Model, featuring the Flyme Auto In-Vehicle Infotainment System for a continuously evolvable smart cockpit.
For now, Geely is keeping the finer details and UK specification styling of the Monjaro EM-i under wraps, but more is set to be revealed in the coming weeks before hitting sale.
While the Monjaro EM-i will represent a new range-topper for Geely, it comes in the wake of the firm launching its new Geely EX2 electric supermini, which will sit at the base of the firm’s line-up.
