Skoda has walked away with three wins at this year’s Auto Express New Car Awards, the manufacturer earning titles for both its petrol and electric vehicle line-up.
The Czechia firm emerged as one of the standout performers at the annual prize-giving ceremony after scoring category successes with the Skoda Elroq, Skoda Kodiaq and Skoda Superb Estate.
Leading the way was the all-electric Elroq, which secured the Mid-Size SUV of the Year prize for a second consecutive year.
Indeed, while Auto Express divides up many of its categories for petrol and electric models, the Elroq was named as best in class across the entire segment, with the publication spotlighting its ‘thoughtful Simply Clever features that make life with this car that bit easier’.
The Skoda Kodiaq, meanwhile, secured the Large SUV of the Year prize for a seventh time in just nine years, its blend of keen pricing, seven-seat practicality and premium build quality winning over judges this year once more.
Not to be outdone, the Skoda Superb Estate claimed its third Estate Car of the Year gong in a row, the spacious load lugger having now won the prize on six occasions.
Skoda’s award sweep comes as the manufacturer gears up for the imminent launch of two brand-new models this summer, the Skoda Peaq and Skoda Epiq.
With electric power and seven-seats, the Skoda Peaq represents a new flagship for the entire range, while it is the largest – and most luxurious – model the manufacturer has ever made.
At the other end of the scale, the Skoda Epiq is a small electric SUV that will rival the Ford Puma Gen-E and Kia EV2.
