Toyota Aygo X vs Toyota Yaris Cross: Which Crossover Car is Best for You?

We’re comparing two popular cars – Toyota Aygo vs Toyota Yaris to see which is the right car for you.

If you ask any driver what traits they look for in a new car, fuel efficiency and reliability are bound to come up. Toyota cars deliver exactly that which makes it easy to see why they are such a popular choice.

Toyota recently gave two of their most popular models a facelift – Toyota Aygo and Toyota Yaris.

In this article, we’ll be pitting the Toyota Aygo X vs the Toyota Yaris Cross to help you decide which crossover car is right for you.

Toyota Aygo X vs Toyota Yaris Cross – design

The Toyota Aygo X and Toyota Yaris Cross are both crossover cars, with one key difference – size.

If you are looking for a compact crossover, Toyota Aygo X will be the perfect car for you. It still retains qualities of the previous Aygo model but with a new contemporary design. With a wide stance, elevated driving position, and oversized wheel arches, you could be mistaken for driving an SUV. But it’s still compact enough to take on city streets and make parking in tight spaces effortless.

Still compact in size, the Toyota Yaris Cross is a crossover SUV. It offers a great view of the road ahead with an elevated driving position, as well as large alloy wheels. But it still retains compact proportions which means you won’t feel out of place in the city.

Is the Toyota Yaris Cross bigger than Toyota Aygo X?

While both are compact city cars, the Toyota Yaris Cross is slightly larger. The Toyota Yaris Cross boasts up to 397 litres of boot space, which can be increased when the rear seats aren’t in place.

Whereas the Toyota Aygo X has a smaller boot capacity of up to 231 litres.

Is the Toyota Yaris Cross or Toyota Aygo X cheaper to run?

Both the Toyota Yaris Cross and Toyota Aygo X offer great fuel efficiency. The Toyota Aygo X offers fuel economy of 54.67 - 58.85mpg. Whereas the Toyota Yaris Cross offers fuel economy between 54.3 - 64.1mpg.

But the Toyota Yaris Cross also has a 1.5 litre petrol hybrid engine, giving you the option to switch between petrol and electric power. As well as lowering your emissions, you can lower your fuel costs by choosing a hybrid car.

How does the Toyota Aygo X drive compared to Toyota Yaris Cross?

The Toyota Aygo X offers the option of a manual or automatic transmission. While the Toyota Yaris Cross is only available with an automatic transmission.

In both, you can benefit from a high riding driving position giving you greater visibility of the road ahead.

As the Toyota Yaris Cross is a crossover SUV, it also has some SUV qualities in the way it drives. It’s the only compact hybrid SUV with intelligent all-wheel drive. This means you can tackle any road or weather with confidence as the car will automatically switch between front and all-wheel drive.

The all-wheel drive system also contributes to the impressive fuel economy and low CO2 emissions of the Toyota Yaris Cross.
