Practicality is sensible for the class. The 60:40 split-folding rear bench lets you mix passengers and luggage, and boot space runs from 354 litres in the hybrid to 422 litres in the petrol. Wireless charging and USB-C ports keep devices topped up front and rear.

The Juke's exterior is where the coupe-crossover concept does the talking, with a high bonnet, a tapering roofline and pronounced wheel arches that give this compact SUV real visual impact. It has always been a car that stands out in a car park full of small SUVs.

Those proportions sit on a body measuring 4,210mm long, 1,800mm wide excluding mirrors and 1,593mm tall, with a 2,636mm wheelbase. That is short enough to park easily, yet tall enough for the commanding view small-SUV buyers tend to want.

Wheels mark each trim out. Acenta Premium wears 17-inch Sakura Flex alloys, while N-Connecta and above step up to 19-inch designs, including the Aero Alloys on Pulse Edition.

Nissan Juke Engines and Performance

Every Juke drives the front wheels, and your choice comes down to two powertrains with quite different characters. Both are proven, and neither asks anything unusual of you day to day.

The DIG-T 114 petrol is a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder producing 114PS. It comes with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, and it suits drivers who cover steady motorway miles and want a familiar petrol feel.

The Hybrid is the more sophisticated option. It combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for 143PS combined, drives through an automatic gearbox, and adds an EV Mode and e-Pedal for smoother, more efficient town driving. Because it charges its own battery as you drive, you get that electric assistance automatically, with no cable and no charging stops.
