Kia Reveals e-Niro 2 To Meet Government's EV Grant Update

Kia has announced that they’re launching a new e-Niro model, known as the Kia e-Niro 2 Long Range, set to deliver more range than any other electric vehicle below £35,000.

This comes as a reaction to the government’s latest update regarding the EV grant scheme for those wishing to make the switch.

From the 18th March 2021, the government will provide grants of up to £2,500 for electric vehicles on cars priced under £35,000 only. Kia have responded to this by ensuring a high-specification of their incredibly popular e-Niro is still eligible.

The e-Niro ‘2’ will travel up to an impressive 282 miles on a single charge, and up to 382 miles if you’re just inner city driving.

The new variant features the same long-range 64kWh battery pack and high-power 150kW motor as higher-specification e-Niro models, while offering a £34,945 on-the-road price. This means that it is eligible for a government plug-in grant application.

Kia’s new e-Niro model announcement comes just after the e-Niro was revealed as being the UK EV most sold within the first two months of 2021, accounting for almost one in five of all nationwide EV sales up to the end of February. You can learn more about the e-Niro leading UK EV sales, here.

With an incredibly impressive range, plus a lengthy list of standard equipment, it’s no surprise that the Kia e-Niro has taken home so many national awards recently too.

Highlights of the e-Niro include an 8.0-inch touchscreen display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels, a reversing camera system with rear parking sensors, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, plus a Smart Key and Button Start.

The e-Niro is also fitted with a battery heating system, designed to insulate and warm up the battery while the vehicle is plugged in. This minimises the adverse effects of cold temperatures.

The e-Niro 2 Long Range also offers the same large cabin and spacious boot as other e-Niro models, with generous space for five occupants and 451 litres of cargo capacity.

To make it even more appealing, Kia recently launched their ‘KiaCharge’ charging network access app. This offers drivers of their plug-in vehicle range access to more than 15,000 charge points across the UK.

These include those from several major charging networks, including bp pulse, Pod Point, IONITY, Source London, Chargepoint, NewMotion, Char-gy, and ESB. Certain national and regional charging networks are also accessible via KiaCharge.

All e-Niro models, including the new 2 Long Range variant, allow owners to sign up to KiaCharge. You can find out more about KiaCharge, here.

Available to order now, make your switch to something electric with the award-winning Kia e-Niro.
