The new and improved Renault Megane E-Tech has entered the running to become one of the UK’s best value cars after it was confirmed the revised model will receive the full Band 1 Electric Car Grant.
That means the facelifted Megane E-Tech – which goes on sale imminently – has seen its entry-level price slashed by another £3,750 to come in comfortably under £30,000.
The Megane E-Tech is a significant pillar of Renault’s popular electric car range, alongside the top-selling Renault 5, not to mention the multi award-winning Renault Scenic and Renault 4, plus the incoming Renault Twingo.
The Megane E-Tech sits in the more conventional hatchback bracket as a rival to the Vauxhall Astra Electric and Kia EV4, but thanks to an upgrade of its new 67kWh Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) battery pack, its 320-miles of range betters both comfortably.
Moreover, recharging up to 165kW is now possible with the new Megane E-Tech, allowing a 15-80% replenishment to take place in just 24-minutes.
Better yet, the new battery has helped assure the Megane E-Tech the full Band 1 ECG discount of £3,750.

It means the base Techno trim level is priced at £28,245, rising to £31,245 for the flagship Esprit Alpine model.
Power remains unchanged at 217bhp, but Renault promises a more involving driving experience after retuning the steering and suspension.
As part of the updates, the Megane E-Tech also gets a more rakish look than before, one that sheds some of the current model’s more bulbous lines for sharper edges that reflect other models in the range, such as the Renault Captur and Renault Symbioz.
At the front, a glossy diamond-pattern grille is flanked by slender headlights, while chequered daytime running LEDs at the corners provide a distinctive finish. The Megane E-Tech also gets larger alloy wheels and a refreshed colour palette.
