The Hyundai Bayon has been given a major overhaul for 2027 in its bid to stamp authority on the competitive small SUV market space.
The smallest SUV in the Korean firm’s range, the Bayon slots beneath the top-selling Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Tucson and Hyundai Santa Fe as a direct rival to the Nissan Juke and Ford Puma.
Revealed alongside the brand-new Tucson at the Paris Motor Show, the Bayon joins its sibling in applying Hyundai’s bold ‘Art of Steel’ design direction, a more rugged and utilitarian approach than its more hatchback-like predecessor.
The muscular appearance is accentuated by large squared off wheelarches and a prominent shoulder line that tapers upwards at the rear window. From the front, slender T-shaped LED headlights are also in-keeping with the Tucson, while a similar treatment at the rear completes the Bayon’s transformation.
2027 Hyundai Bayon: Interior and Boot Space
Inside it’s all-new too with the Bayon being treated to a more modern, tech-driven treatment complete with 12.3-inch touchscreen display accompanied by physical buttons for all the major controls.
Showcased in sportier N Line trim, this model comes with red accents dotted around the cabin, while there is an emphasis on providing a spacious interior with lots of cubby holes and storage spots.
Larger than its predecessor, the growth in dimensions is felt inside with generous legroom and headroom, while the rear seats are able to recline for a more relaxed passenger experience.
At the rear, the Bayon offers 440-litres of boot space in its largest specification, which is comfortably more than popular rivals like the Juke and Toyota Yaris Cross.
2027 Hyundai Bayon: Engines and Specification
Under the bonnet, the Bayon gets a 1.0-litre petrol engine that comes with the choice of either 89bhp or 113bhp power outputs, though a larger 1.6-litre full hybrid will be added to the line-up at a later date.
The new Hyundai Bayon will reach Vertu Hyundai dealerships in early 2027.
